Sightings of a mountain lion in Hollywood Hills have left locals scared to leave their homes.

Sightings of a mountain lion in Hollywood Hills have left locals scared to leave their homes. The wild animal strolling through the area is very well known to wildlife experts and is referred to as P-22.

The 4-year-old creature was outfitted with a GPS collar back in 2012. It was then that the mountain lion began frequenting Griffith Park after a 20 mile journey from the Santa Monica Mountain.

On March 5th of this year, he was caught on camera exploring an upscale residential neighborhood. He sauntered down the street, alongside several parked cars.

The neighborhood is approximately a half a mile away from Griffith Park. Authorities believe P-22 is the most urban mountain lion in the Southern portion of the state.

A wildlife specialist in Los Angeles, Greg Randall suspects the reason behind P-22’s appearance in Hollywood Hills has to do with him searching for food. Another speculation is that P-22 is trying to find a mate.

Whatever the cause of his suburban prowling may be, it doesn’t change the fact that local residents are terrified. One woman claimed she had a face to face encounter with P-22. Fortunately, the lady managed to get away from him unscathed.
