It will be 20 years this September that the accomplishment that was The Shawshank Redemption made its way to theaters for the first time. Frank Darabont's adaptation of Stephen King's short story is considered by many movie fans as one of the best movies ever made and it also includes one of the best scenes of, well, redemption.
Tim Robbins' quiet character Andy Dufresne put up with a lot during his time at Shawshank, and in the perfect example of revenge being served cold, gradually puts into play a series of events that are just as masterful as the film itself. Andy's escape sequence culminates with one of film's most memorable images and if there's anything more satisfying on film than watching Dufresne emerge victorious, we haven't seen it yet.
