A helicopter with eight people on board made an emergency landing at sea of the coast of Malaysia on Thursday (December 12). No one suffered serious injuries.
According to Bernama, a Sikorsky S-76 helicopter with two crew members was carrying six passengers from an oil company to identity oil and gas exploration sites when the weather turned bad. The passengers were reportedly from France, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Canada.
Bad weather forced the helicopter to make an emergency landing about 160 kilometers off the coast of Bintulu. All eight people on board were rescued by a passing vessel and were taken to Columbia hospital for medical check-ups. The helicopter sank into the sea.
Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) is carrying out an investigation into the incident.
