Gang Of Ghosts, finally hits the screens on the 21st of March, 2014. Marking to be a Hindi remake of the Bengali blockbuster, Bhooter Bhabishyat, while the film ensembles a buffet of cast namely, Sharman Joshi, Anupam Kher, Mahi Gill and Meera Chopra, the buzz too had remained constantly high over the twists around this celebrated comedy! So now, for all you viewers who are sinking dicey on to watch or to not watch this Satish Kaushik's directorial, here's a review on what ultimately lies in the film!
Firstly, a quick brush up through the film's plot. Gang Of Ghosts narrates an unusual take at horrifying ghosts. It starts off with director Parambrata, who plans to shoot a film in an old haunted house! But no sooner does he meet writer Sharman, he gets a full-fledged story that essays the tale of a troop of homeless ghosts. So now, the way these ghosts manage to occupy themselves into a mansion followed by their fight to save their home from the builders planning a mall, is what the entire film all about!
Now as per the plot, the film is quite at par with the original version that was set on the backdrop of Kolkata. But the inclusions of Mumbaiyaa modernization through the characters as well as the dialogue delivery has spoiled some rooted fun! The scenes are too dramatic and bragged across to no bounds. Though the fictional horror remains throughout but the actual essence of humor is lost with no traces! Forcible tickles may help you laugh....! Never mind, performance wise, Mahi Gill, Sharman Joshi and Parambrata Chatterjee stick to their character and give a decent performance whereas Anupam Kher is loud. Meanwhile, Saurabh Shukla, Chunky Pandey, Asrani and Jackie Shroff are fine on their parts but Yashpal Sharma and Rajpal Yadav hardly had anything to offer.
To sum it up, Gang Of Ghosts is a decent ride but doesn't justify its genre well and fails to deliver the charm that one can see from its original Bengali form. In fact, in spite of having an ensemble cast, the film offers a dull plot!
