32 year old Ricardo Antonio Chaney of Lane County Oregon went on a crime spree that started out near Eugene, Oregon and ended on a California road over 400 miles away.
And it all started because he was found urinating on a man's private property. The owner of The Confusion Hill Gift Shop told him to get off of his property.
Not taking the chastisement lightly, Chaney shot the man with his rifle. He then reportedly carjacked and kidnapped the victim, putting him into the trunk of the car. However the victim eventually escaped, and notified police hours later.
Tipped off, Eugene police engaged Chaney in pursuit, but when speeds got too high, they called it off.
Several hours and 450 miles later in northern California's Mendocino County, Deputy Sheriff Ricky Del Fiorentino spottedthe black BMW and tried to chase him down. However he was ambushed on a narrow drive and fatally shot.
Following an intensive 5 hour search, Chaney was shot and killed while exchanging gunfire with police.
Deputy Del Fiorentino had over 25 years in law enforcement experience in Northern California
