WAKO headquarter, a high-class jewelry shop in Ginza Tokyo, fell victim to a burglary involving in a US$350,000 diamond ring on Christmas Eve, according to a Wednesday report from Asahi Shimbun.
Two Asian men in their 30~40s are said to go to WAKO's jewelry section on 2nd floor on Christmas Eve. The pair spoke a smattering of Japanese and English to tell the clerk that they wanted to see diamond rings. He took four diamond rings out of showcases. The pair even asked the clerk to accompany them for withdrawing money to purchase rings. The pair left the shop shortly after he declined their offer. The clerk did not realise one of rings was stolen until he was returning the ring to the cases. Police are treating the case as a robbery and they have been endeavouring to trace the pair by analysing security camera footage.
