A nurse was killed during a stabbing rampage at Good Shepherd Medical Center's ambulatory surgical facility in Longview, Texas on Tuesday morning (November 26). Four other people, including another nurse, were injured in the incident. One victim remains in critical condition. The attacker has been identified as 22-year-old Kyron Raushaun Templeton.
The attack took place at around 7:00 a.m. on the second floor of the facility's ambulatory surgical center. One witness who spoke to CNN affiliate KLTV said Templeton, who was wearing a blue shirt and grey sweatpants, was running with a hunting knife while saying while screaming, "You're not going to kill my mother." One family said he stabbed a man before stabbing a nurse in the chest.
After Templeton fled the scene, police officer Kirby Deloach was dispatched to search for him. Deloach said he saw Templeton running from the hospital parking lot when he neared the hospital, and that the suspect was wearing a white tank top and carrying his blue shirt in his hand.
Templeton was arrested and charged with one count of murder and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators have not identified a motive.
The nurse who was killed has been identified as 57-year-old Gail Sandidge, whom hospital officials said was trying to protect other victims.
The other victims of the stabbing spree have been identified as Karen Bobo, Harris Teel, Teresa Allison and Melissa Simms.
