Southampton University’s under-construction Mayflower student residence burst into flames on April 3 following an explosion that reportedly rocked the campus. Hampshire Fire Services tackled the blaze at the 10-storey building shortly after midday. The fire was brought under control and emergency services had left the scene after 3pm, according to local reports.
