Dressed like characters from the popular movie series, supporters chanted “Vader” as their candidate emerged from the election commission in Ukraine. On the Internet Party of Ukraine’s website, Vader pledged to blockade the CEC with a contingent of fighters and attack aircraft defence if his candidacy was not recognised.

Despite his threats – as yet unrealised – Vader was not registered. Ukrainian media said the CEC refused his entry because his real identity could not be verified.
