Woman pulled from China building collapse

Seven people have been rescued from the rubble of a residential building that collapsed in eastern China on Friday (April 4), but one died while being treated at a local hospital, state media reported.

The five-story building of 20 apartments in Fenghua city, Zhejiang province, collapsed before 9 am local time (0100GMT), official broadcaster CCTV reported.

A team of rescue workers removed rubble to reach those trapped inside, some of whom they could hear calling out.

The seventh rescued was a young woman, who was treated by nurses as workers tried to remove the large concrete beam that trapped her.

After over eight hours trapped, she was finally freed and carried over the rubble by rescue workers who put her in an ambulance. She was in a stable condition, CCTV reported.

Rescuers continued to search, but no one was believed to still be trapped inside, CCTV said.
