Once nearly hunted to extinction, the Eastern Pacific Gray Whale is back from the brink thanks to a programme involving the local community to protect its kind. Nearly a thousand calves have been born in the warm waters of San Ignacio Lagoon in Mexico in the few months that followed. Al Jazeera's David Mercer visited a breeding ground in Baha, California to find out more.
