This appears to be a pseudonym for Alex Jackson's Plantation Orchestra, a presently forgotten territory band that recorded a few sides in Richmond, Indiana. They often worked with white bands in Cincinnati in the mid-1920s. Band members included Len Fields and Harold Scott, clarinet and alto saxophone; Lee Golden and Clarence Wheeler, trumpet; Alex Jackson, vocals and leader; Joe King, trombone; Raymond Martin, tenor saxophone; Tommy Short, banjo; Lonnie Small, piano; Dick Ward, drums, as well as Bob Ysaguirre, tuba. The present, grand version of this standard was arranged in a most remarkable style reminiscent of the later big bands, a decade before this musical genre would actually break through. Indeed, this memorable side was recorded in 1927. The vocal solo is by uncredited band members.
