Everything from the packaging to the look and feel of this USB Battery/rechargeable light shouts quality. Going from the inside out, the charger/light has a metallic shell with two buttons and two lights. The first, smaller button turns on the battery charger and the small LED located near it tells the status of the ChargeLight battery. Green is good, red is "Low" (think the little gas pump that light up on your dashboard), and blinking red is "dead". My first thought is that it would be nice to have more levels indicated and I realized that for this light, and its intended use/users that would be a needless complication.

The other, much larger button controls the flashlight and the other light is... the flashlight. You turn the light on by pressing the button it starts at full power. Pressing the button will then cycle the light through 1/2 power, 1/4 power, strobe, and then back to off. Full power, 250 lumens, is really bright. It is bright enough, in fact, to cause discomfort and disorientation if shined in someone's eyes. Half power, 125 lumens, is probably bright enough for most uses and will double battery life, from four to eight hours. Quarter power, 25 lumens, is useful if you want to turn on a light without disturbing others around you. It also extends battery life to 72 hours. Strobe is even more disorienting than plain full power and great if you need to signal for help. A momentary-on option would have been nice and again, it won't be much of an issue for the typical user.
