Namiko Miyazaki, a 39-year-old unemployed woman, was arrested on Sunday in the Japanese city of Kobe on suspicion of fraud.
She is accused of hypnotizing a 56-year-old bachelor, making him buy two luxury watches worth 1.32 million yen (US$ 13,000) from a fashion outlet and then stealing them from him.
The pair is believed to have become acquainted during a matchmaking event in October and quickly began a textual relationship.
One evening in November, the two had dinner and drinks at a bistro. Miyazaki gave the man an energy drink, promising him it would stave of a hangover.
He began to feel groggy immediately. He was left unattended and tumbled down the street after being relieved of his watches. He was taken to a hospital by passersby.
Several days later he received a call from his credit-card company and realized he had been robbed. Unfortunately for him, the watches had already been resold.
The woman admitted to all charges under questioning.
