Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) representative & Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Syed Faisal Subzwari said that the bodies of two missing MQM workers were found in Karachi’s Qayummabad area on Friday.
Speaking to media, he said that the names of both workers were included in the list presented by him in the Sindh Assembly on April 14. The list mentions 45 MQM workers who have allegedly gone missing since the targeted operation started in Karachi on September 7.
The party had tabled a motion in protest of what they claim are extra-judicial executions and enforced disappearances during a session of the Sindh Assembly on April 15, but the motion was dismissed on the basis of being invalid and the session was adjourned.
Subzwari said today that “we demonstrated against the extra-judicial killings of our workers, but instead of receiving a response from the government, the assembly was adjourned.”
He claimed that MQM’s Muhammad Ali Khan was arrested from Azad Kahmir on March 13 when he was visiting his sister in the area.
“His body was found from Qayummabad this morning,” he stated.
Another party worker, Muhammad Qasim, was taken into custody from Jinnah International Airport on December 28, 2013, Sabzwari said, adding that Qasim’s wife had submitted a petition on her husband’s behalf in the Sindh High Court the day after his disappearance.
Sabzwari said that Qasim’s body was also found this morning in the same area of the city.
MQM representatives have claimed on many occasions that their workers are being made the target of unjust and illegal arrests under the ruse of the operation.
Condemning these incidents, MQM chief Altaf Hussain also called for justice and said it was saddening to lose workers this way.
He told his supporter to remain calm in the face of this problems.
