During Obama’s Asia tour, he recently took a trip to the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation or Miraikan in Tokyo. It was there the president got to meet a friendly, humanoid robot named ASIMO, which is short for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility.

Their interaction was caught on camera. Obama and the Honda-designed robot showed their respect towards one another by bowing and had a short conversation in English.

To sum it up, the robot told him it could kick a ball and clearly hoped to show its skills. Of course, curiosity took over and Obama wanted to see it.

ASIMO stepped back and prepared for the shot. It then ran forward and perfectly kicked the ball straight into Obama’s leg. The president praised ASIMO saying ‘good job’.

Judging by Obama’s look of shock and smiles, he seemed to be pretty impressed. After the presentation, however, he did point out modern day robots are a little intimidating. He remarked “We saw some truly amazing robots -- although I have to say the robots were a little scary. They were too lifelike.”
