Hagel: U.S. hasn't made decision on Iraq drone request

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (May 13) to take part in meetings aimed at reassuring allies the United States is committed to helping its partners in the region.

Many are concerned about the impact of growing instability in Iraq and Syria.

"We are assisting the Iraqi government on their request for advice and we have a team assisting them on evaluating what additional assets we can provide. On drones we have made no decision on providing drones," Hagel said.

Shortly after his arrival, Hagel met with Saudi Vice Defense Minister Salman bin Sultan. He also plans to meet with Crown Prince Salman and will take part in a meeting Wednesday (May 14) of defense ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council states which include Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates
