Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are teaming up again in ‘Blended’, the story of single parents who find themselves sharing a family vacation in Africa after a disastrous blind date.

“It’s a pretty real story and I mean ending up in Africa together was kind of a movie move but everything else was about relationships, and talking and family and being good parents, I like it,” said Adam Sandler.

It is the duo’s third movie together after ’50 First Dates’ and ‘The Wedding Singer’, and the pair’s onscreen connection is as potent as ever.

“She is a family member of mine and I’ve known her since she was a youngster and we feel very close together,” said Sandler. “It was her idea to do this movie, to do another movie together, and then I found this and I was very fortunate. That’s it, good girl.”

A new addition to Adam Sandler’s clan is former Disney actress Bella Thorne. At just 16, the teen star says she could relate to her character’s awkward tween stage: “I went through it really bad awkward phase but I thought that I was okay looking.”

“I look back at pictures and I was like ‘Oh my God dude, I was ugly. I was straight up ugly. How did anybody like me? Oh my God I cannot believe I looked like that.’ So I totally feel where she’s coming from,” Thorne said.

The film has opened to mixed reviews with one critic deploring what she calls Adam Sandler’s usual “chauvinistic cracks”, though that is not expected to prevent it from scoring box office success this summer.

‘Blended’ is on worldwide release from now.
