French defence minister Jean-Yves Le Drian pays tribute to corporal Emile Bouetard, believed to be the first French casualty of the June 1944 Allied landing operation. Bouetard was enrolled with British special forces, charged with creating a diversion in Brittany the day before the main assault in Normandy.
