A woman in Santa Ana, California, identified as Rita Corpin, was recently found dead on a property filled with cats and piles of trash. The elderly female’s body was discovered on Tuesday night after local police were dispatched to her residence for a welfare check.
Neighbors had expressed concern as they hadn’t seen Corpin in recent days. When officers arrived, they found her dead on the grounds. Authorities also saw about 40 cats on the property, in addition to numerous dogs. All the animals reportedly belonged to Corpin.

When police learned Corpin owned two other residences in Santa Ana, they decided to investigate. The other homes were also plagued by similar hoarding conditions.
A cause of death has not been determined yet, but police suspect Corpin passed away of natural causes. According to her brother, she had no known health problems. He claims to have spoken to her a week before learning about her death.
