'Twas never tenderness
nor something in myself
that prompted me to do
what you found so adorable.

You said I was unlike
the others who had ogled
and tried their little tricks
like crafty spiders just to lure
another prize into their nets
until all blood was sucked
from lusty veins of chance.

There is not anything
spectacular about the likes of me
but I shall now reveal to you
just what it was that caused
the supercalifragilistic joy
when you, of all the ones who count
directed lovely hazel eyes
at no one but myself.
I have a simple explanation,
it was the purest of all loves.
