Yes, I have a dream too.
That the dream of Martin Luther King, Jr.
be treated not like
the celebration of christmas (in large part) .
Just a huge excuse
to exploit the spirit of people looking
for the reality of that dream.
Just a temporary token acknowledgement
that has yet to ring
solid like iron in its finally.
Just a gentle passing cool breeze
quickly followed by the heat of what really goes on.
Just a same old same old
like what happen in New Orleans,
or what happens elsewhere.
But rather, that finally
we as Americans,
we as a world of intelligent beings
truly allow ourselves to be overtaken
by decency motivated by love, trust and honor
blind to skin. And only see bones, muscle tissue and blood.
And then see the outter layer of each other
as a coat of dignity.

May this be seen as a support beam
to the good that is toiling to hang around
and is accomplished in the world, and in America.
I honestly believe though, if Martin Luther King, Jr.
was not shot
and lived to see the world as it is today — especially America,
he may not be overly impressed.
Though he would most certainly see
the new opportunities that present themselves,
looking with crinkled eyebrows
and a tight mouth. Saying:
“Mm. All that energy that existed.”
Of course you would yet find
his occasional brazen smile
likely of the intuition
of freedom that is coming
