Jack Dylan - A Little Cedar Box

Trace elements of adventures,
Special little keepsakes,
That prove I’ve been here
They are dear to me and each has its’ place.

Remnants of candles, whose light has burned out long ago
Ribbons and flowers all to remind me that love does have happy moments,
But not always happy endings.
They are journeys and memories of times that have past
And times that will never be forgotten.

Other’s have peered into the box.
Only interested with the variety of trinkets and oddities.
Not realizing that each piece is part of a puzzle,
One with many pieces and a long elaborate story to tell.

Some pieces remind me of unbearable sadness,
And others of unsurpassable joy.
It is a box of life and ups and downs
Triumph and disaster, love and hopelessness.

But it is my box, and it is unlocked
I do not hide my skeletons.
They are free to all, and I will always have time to explain
If you have the time to truly listen.

Something as simple as a burnt our 5 amp fuse,
May seem like garbage to everyone else.
But if it weren’t for that fuse,
I would never have had the pleasure of a deeply passionate kiss.

Some things in life don’t always make sense
Or seems to have a purpose or a plan,
All these little bobbles have a story,
One that was never planned,
Some things ended up there by mistake.

But this box is proof the nothing ever truly happens by mistake
All of our interactions, positive and negative attitudes,
Reflect on those around us reflecting energy, what message are you sending?
Open you box, be proud of your journey, learn from your experiences.
But share them all with those you love, and keep all those times close to your heart.
