Tulika Jain - Some Idle Musings

Exotic cuisines were spread out,
but the careless rich had no appetite
In another part of the city,
there were endless days of hunger and not a morsel to eat

Books are aplenty but there is no thirst for knowledge
Knowledge some have but no understanding

We all have a religion
but there is no sign of GOD
GOD said I have numerous devotees
but none have real devotion
They try to outdo the neighbour in show of religious fervour
but I know in their heart of hearts live money, wife, children, business; Not ME

We all have enemies and enough ammunition to destroy the whole world
But there are no bridges of friendship, peace
