The land of Owen Roe O Neill and Red Hugh O Donnell
And of bold Robert Emmett and Daniel O Connell
And of King Brian Boru his is a great story
He led a great army and theirs was the glory.
The myths and the legends of Ireland amazes
The land of Fionnuala 'Tom Moore sung her praises'
The warriors Fionn MacChumaill and CuChulainn and the bards and the sages
The tales of old Ireland live on through the ages.
The Land of bracken mountain and green grassy valley
And of Kathleen Ni Houlahain and Grace O Malley,
The Fir Bolg and De Danaan and the Celts who came later
The legends of Ireland they keep getting greater.
Though not before time and though somewhat belated
The migrants of Ireland are now celebrated
In Canada Thomas Darcy McGee still a heroic figure
His fame may be great but his legend is bigger.
The home of the high kings in Royal Meath in Tara
And I still hear the harp played by Mary O Hara
The Land of the Shannon and the high peaks of Kerry,
The Liffey, the Lee and the Foyle flowing through Derry.
The Land of the brown bog and the brave freedom fighter
And of the musician and the gaelic writer
Oh Ireland my Ireland I love you forever
And the ties I have to you I never could sever.
