Old Mr Johnson the grumpy balding gray haired fellow he is one of those who does not know how to smile
Yet despite his sour face he does seem rather honest and he seems free of any sort of guile
With thick gray eyebrows his brow is always in a furrow and to very few he bother to say hello
Life must be sad for him the ageing loner for people like him too hard to get to know.

Six years ago his wife Mandy left him for another she did look rather classy on her day
But father time has left his mark upon her with brown hair dye she cloaks the silver gray
For three decades she was devoted to him far longer than most with one like him would stay
Bill her new love more easy going and jovial though his act to follow for him easy one might say

They raised a son and daughter Mr and Mrs Johnson and their children now have children of their own
And for the last few years of their marriage there was no love left between them and apart from each other they had grown
With his surly manner she had become disenchanted but Bill has brought the spark back to her life
And life goes on as usual for Mr Johnson he did not shed a tear for his ex wife.

He drinks alone when he is at the local pub, poor Mr Johnson does not have a mate
And life for him it cannot be easy he is getting on in years now sixty eight
And few if anybody want to know one who does not have the ray of happiness
And spare one thought at least for poor old Mr Johnson the gift of laughter he does not possess.
