I don't write poetry
...it writes me
dips into
my life
(every now and then)
and in a scribbled scrawl
or beautiful caligraphy
writes what I am
all about
the mystery
of my blood
when I am in love
the mystery of how
your voice transforms me
from just a man
to a man who loves and is loved.
The mystery
of the mystery
of what I will be
what I will amount to.
I don't write poetry
...it writes me.
I don't write poetry
...it happens.
And so, if it so
chooses
to write with me
I want my poetry
to say
I was more me
than I could ever be
because of you
became my self
through loving you.
Love, like poetry
is a happening
it becomes one
rather than...
and so we become
the poetry that is us
calling this strange writing
into being
the writing
we call
love.
