I've never been a military type of person
And fought in wars like the Gulf and Vietnam
But despite that i too have see some action
I've seen two grown men brawl at Pakenham.

I watched them in the Pakenham Football Oval
In what one might call an incident off the ball
They punched and wrestled in the muddy goal square
And precious little was at stake at all.

I've never seen any of the World's seven wonders
Or been to India and Pakistan
But i have seen the coots on the lake at Jells Park
Do something quite impossible to man.

They outdid Christ by running on the water
And whilst others walked on i could only stare
I witnessed one of Nature's marvellous miracles
Yet something not considered to be rare.

I've never seen the Pyramids of Egypt
Or been to the Land of the Midnight Sun
And i've never seen the wildebeest on the Serengeti
In herds of thousands on their migration run.

Yet i have witnessed miracles of Nature
Such miracles as give rise to delight
But when i told of what i had seen to others
They ruined my joy by saying 'a common sight'.
