Robert Lloyd Palmer - Lonesome Dove

I'm looking through the window
The world is wet with rain
Looking for the rainbow
Will it shine through this pain?
The lonesome dove on the wire
Is he waiting for the same?
Or do his wings just tire
Is he willing to be tame?
Now the rain is falling
And he has flown away.
Has he heard her calling?
What did he hear her say?
I used to love a day like this
Sitting home with you.
If we could share a tender kiss,
I wouldn't be so blue.
If I'm to see some hope today
Despite my secret rage
It's that that dove could fly away
And lives not in a cage.
For this I thank the only One
The one I thank for you
And hope to see the shining Son
That the rainbow can shine through.
