Here is why I despise you
Why I’ve so much disgust to express
It’s the silver you water your flowers with
It’s the profligate way that you dress
It’s the unfair trade that flavours your coffee
It’s the French cow’s milk that thickens your tea
It’s the car that you buy to complete a collection
It’s the instant demand ‘I’ll have three’
It’s the snatching as if simple affluence
Is enough to excuse lacked politeness
It’s the money piled high in eight bank accounts
It’s the plain, snobbish, arrogant rudeness
It’s the vanity satisfied only by price
The surgery, fake-tan and lipo-suction
It’s the constant belief that you always know best
As if cash serves the best education
It’s your Mum for the smile that she puts on her face
It’s that satisfied, smug little grin
It’s the ‘I have a house that is home to two people
But could fit three small villages in’
It’s your bathroom and all its extravagances
Like the towel rack designed by Armani
Like the hair spray that’s made from the finest acrylic
Extracted from the heart of only the deepest despair
In a luxuriously poverty-stricken family
It’s the egotist’s way, it’s the narcissistic way
It’s the dregs of the filthiest rich
It’s the thought that the world is a gold mine
In which everyone’s striving to dig
