A beautiful bird is the bullfinch
Though a fine song he does not have to sing
By the poets not one celebrated
As a voice of the Northern Spring.
With pink breast and slate blue back and dark head
More handsome to look at than his plainer wife
The bullfinch is a faithful fellow
He stays with his female for life.
Bullfinches with orchardists not popular
Since in Spring the blossoms on fruit trees they eat
The blooms on the apple tree branches
To their taste buds do taste very sweet.
In Winter one sees them in small flocks
On hedgerows and woods they reside
Non migratory they are sedentary
They live their lives in their own Countryside.
