Aleyamma Jacob - Memories

The apartment looked beautiful,
Overlooking the blue ocean.
The full moon illuminated
the driveway of the house.
Arippling breeze swept the palms,
Gazing at ocean contentedly,
I watched the light of the city
Twinkling one by one.
I yanked the window curtain to one side,
But little of the October light
came in to dispel the gloom.
I switched on the light
I fished from my pocket.
Darkness was descending,
All alone in the apartment I sat.
Past memories flooded my mind.
How I wish she was alive,
How happy we were together.
Fate was cruel to me.
I have to spend the
rest of my life all alone,
With my fluffy cat 'Missy.'
