Juan Olivarez - A Friend Of The Wandering Wind

Oh to be a friend, of the wandering wind,
To behold the mountains high.
To gaze through heat waves,
Over burning sands,
And watch the clouds roll by.
That's all I ask of life so sweet,
To commune with God supreme,
Out in the wild,
Away from all,
To live a glorious dream.
To be able to appreciate the Earth,
And the mysteries all around.
To watch the myriad of colors,
In the days twilight,
While the sun is going down.
Or to watch the silver moon ascend,
As it slowly rises high,
As clouds stream slowly across it's face,
In the starlit glow,
Of the summer sky.
To shout out my name,
From a rocky mountain trail,
With no one around for miles,
And of all the things there, high in the sky,
My human body the thing most frail.
To keep in prospective, this thing called life,
And to really know our place.
To not be egotistical,
Vain or proud.
As we wander through this maze.
God grant I live to see, all the wonders,
That I can.
That God has put,
Upon his world,
For this humble man.
