Punjab Government on Saturday sacked Punjab Inspector General (IG) Khan Baig and appointed Mushtaq Sukhera as the new IG of the province amid the terror threat and political situation, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, the federal government replaced IG Punjab upon request of Punjab government. Sukhera who had been working as IG Balochistan was made IG Punjab whereas Muhammad Amlesh was appointed as the new IG Balochistan.
The sacked IG has been directed to report to National Police Academy.
Reportedly, the newly appointed IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera has a reputation of being a strict cop. He started his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Civil Lines and also worked as DIG Investigation Lahore. Sukhera has also worked as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Gujranwala and Multan as well as DIG Bahawalpur.
