Broken promises and broken dreams
That's what she writes about
At night
The cast off light
Of the lamp, at her head
She lies in bed
Sleepy but not tired
She tries to write
But fails to keep her eyes up
It's late at night
She's young but her body 's tired
Her mind floats off
From the task at hand
And then she remembers
Her forgotten plans
She remembers when her friends
Stopped being her friends
And instead of being on stage
She settled for being a fan
Instead of being independent
She jumped from empty cans to older men
Broken promises
Mirror
Broken plans
