Adam Soper - Broken Teeth

You knew I was going to write about you,
So you lurked at the back of my brain until then,
Slowly pulling out your teeth,
And scattering the broken bits on the carpet,
Now, as I enter, the teeth bite my feet,
Like an aggressive rat in a sewer.

Jumping around trying to avoid the pearls of pain,
I briefly catch your eye, and you smile at me,
A toothless grin, a sinner's smile,
You've already put me on trial,
This is my punishment, but I can't help thinking,
You were much better looking before you were vindictive.
