Queen Elizabeth visits set of U.S. TV series Game of Thrones

STORY: Queen Elizabeth and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh visited the set of the U.S. HBO television series Game of Thrones on Tuesday (June 24) as part of their Northern Ireland visit.

The royal couple headed to east Belfast, to visit the Paint Hall Studios in the city's regenerated docklands, where part of the hit series is filmed.

David Benioff and Dan Weiss, executive producers and writers of Game of Thrones, led a tour through the sets for the Red Keep and the Throne Room.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were shown costumes and props from the set, before greeting members of the cast including Kit Harington who plays Jon Snow, Maisie Williams who plays Arya Stark, and local Ballymena-born actor Conleth Hill who plays Lord Varys.

The Queen was then shown The Iron Throne used in the show before being presented with a miniature replica of the Iron Throne.
