A Playthrough of the FreeSpace 2 Modification Ancient-Shivan War Act II created by the Ancient-Shivan War Team in 2012 on Insane Difficulty by Novachen.

A new shivan capital ship appeared and we retreated back to Vocruar to intercept it at the Gate. To surprise it and to evade its beam cannons, we are waiting behind the Gate and want to attack it from the rear. But things do not work as originally planned.
Hints:
This mission has a bug. If the Akrotiri's main gun is destroyed, it will jump out and you can proceed to the next mission even before the Lucifer arrived. So it is very easy to complete the mission, do nothing and ignore every enemy and let the enemy bombers perform their tasks. But i do not think, that this make some fun.
But this case can happen even if you try to do this mission in a regular way. So maybe some restarts are needed, to get the right order of events.
Take caution to enemy bombs, their explosion shockwaves can kill you and your wingmates easily or will cause heavy hull damage at least. So try to take out enemy bombers and their bombs from distance.
Ignore every enemy capital ships, you allies will take care of them.
After the arrival of the Lucifer some shivans are withdraw to the super destroyer, try to catch them, but keep distance to the Lucifer and its escorts and withdraw yourself to the fleet in preparation for the final moments in this mission.
After the Akrotiri left the battle area, follow it and do not waste your time with shivans.
This mission does not have a debriefing and proceeds directly to the next mission.
