Bobby Jasoos Critics Review

Vidya Balan's much awaited film, 'Bobby Jasoos' has finally waved its release on the 4th of July, 2014. Directed by Samar Shaikh, while its promos had already promised us to offer a buffet of entertainment with a disguised Vidya around her detective array, let's find out how far has the film pleased our critics out there...Have they rated it as a hit or a miss? Watch it out, right here peeps!

Bollywood Hungama says, Ratings: 2/5

While much of the first half is devoted to constructing the suspense, the post-interval portions, sadly, do not live up to those lofty expectations. Sure, there are some absorbing moments and you do hope to get a shocker when the veil of suspense is finally lifted Sadly, what transpires makes you wonder, what was the chase all about? Furthermore, the film lacks the thrill quotient, which is so essential in a film like this. On the whole, BOBBY JASOOS has an interesting premise, but the writing plays the spoilsport. The saving grace and also the USP is Vidya Balan for sure, but is that enough to salvage the film?

Mumbai Mirror says, Ratings: 3.5/5

There are many fine things about Bobby Jasoos. A terrific lead performance, a great supporting cast, surprising attention to detail and Hyderabad in full glory. But the outright winner is its writing, the quality of which is not often seen in Bollywood today. There are few things to complain about with Bobby Jasoos. It's a delightful caper with a lot of heart, and you root for both the film and it's protagonist all the way till the end.

Moviezadda says, Ratings: 3/5

There is a good amount of dum for all those who love sweet and simple films with good performances attached to it. The movie might appeal to all those who are looking out to see a full fledge intellectual detective film. Also, the weak climax will end up leaving a bad taste. Barring these few negative points, the movie ends up being a decent entertainer. Vidya Balan's 'Bobby Jasoos' might not end up being on the line of 'The Sherlock Holmes' or our own 'Feluda' but will come close to becoming a lady 'Karamchand', which was sweet, funny and entertaining.

Hindustan Times Says, Ratings: 2/5

The first half of Bobby Jasoos is totally entertaining and pacy, but drags to an agonizing halt as soon as the assignment takes centre stage. Shot aesthetically in a set-up completely apt for the story, Vidya is nothing short of a typical Bollywood hero here: she runs across alleys in canvas shoes, fights with her dad, and has no qualms about it. But sadly, the film could have done very well if it didn't waste too many frames on dealing with Bobby and her confrontation with her family. It looks forced and deliberate, a brazen attempt to reach a wider audience. To sum it up, watch Bobby Jasoos, only if you must, for Vidya's performance and the chemistry she shares with Ali.

NDTV says, Ratings, 3/5

Equally importantly, Bobby Jasoos isn't the sort of flick that is willing to stoop to any level simply to inveigle average consumers of Bollywood kitsch. A two-hour caper film that thrives on restraint, Bobby Jasoos takes a serious turn in the second half but retains its warmth all the way through. It is consistently charming, if not particularly exhilarating, and benefits immensely from Balan's energetic performance.
