STORY: Pakistani soldiers discovered bomb-making factories in Miranshah, the capital of North Waziristan, as they carried out door to door searches after the area was cleared of militants, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Friday (July 4).
The explosives found were Improvised Explosive Devices or IED's, the army said.
The military statement said a large quantity of explosives, anti-tank mines, a suicide bomber training centre, a media facility and a rocket cache were found in the cleared areas of North Waziristan during the Operation 'Zarb-e-Azb'.
One soldier was killed during the search when an IED exploded, the statement added.
On Monday (June 30), the Pakistani army said it launched a ground offensive in the northwestern city, considered a key Taliban stronghold after two weeks of aerial bombing.
