LaBeouf in court, "Birdman" to open Venice

Shia LaBeouf made a brief appearance in Manhattan Criminal Court. The actor was on hand to face charges of disorderly conduct and harassment after disturbing a performance of a Broadway show in June. Dressed in a dark suit and tie, the actor was silent during the brief hearing. A judge adjourned the case until September.

The line-up for this year's Venice Film Festival has been announced. The fest will kick off with a screening of "Birdman," starring Michael Keaton as a washed-up actor who tries to reclaim his past glory by starring in Broadway play. The film will premiere in Venice on August 27 and will be one of 55 films to screen at the competition.
