Another new generation aircraft from A320 Airbus family has been inducted in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Saturday, Dunya News reported. Chairman PIA Muhammad Ali Gardezi said that the restoration of crisis-ridden PIA is taking place on directions and vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Aviation Consultant Shujat Azeem.
The induction ceremony was held at Benazir International Airport Islamabad. Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman PIA Muhammad Ali Gardezi said that it is the second aircraft which has been taken on a six year lease while the third A320 aircraft will be brought in September. He informed that more aircrafts will be inducted including 5 ATR aircrafts. After the Hajj operation seven 47 aircrafts will be grounded. He stressed that because of the outdated aircrafts 56 % of PIA budget is spent on fuel and 70 % on airline staff. Expressing his zeal, he affirmed that the revival of PIA was coming about just as visualized by PM Nawaz Sharif and Aviation Consultant Shujat Azeem.
