In Burma, general elections are scheduled to take place by 2015, a long-awaited ballot in a country undergoing a bumpy democratic transition. Indeed, the roadmap to a democratic Burma seems to be stuck in a rut with Aung San Suu Kyi barred from running as a candidate. Her millions of supporters have signed a petition in a bid to change this, but the authorities show no sign of giving in.
