A newly-born animal named Butterfly is melting hearts across the county. Butterfly is a Geep, which means she’s a cross between a sheep and a goat.
She was born at My Petting Zoo on July 27th in North Scottsdale, Arizona. Butterfly’s mom is a sheep while her dad is a pygmy goat.
The baby bears a resemblance to both parents. She has dad’s hooves and that typical goat head, but she’s covered in wool just like her mama.
The hybrid birth wasn’t intentional. The Motolas, who own My Petting Zoo, had no clue the sheep was even expecting a baby at first.
According to Priscilla Motola, the family didn’t believe she could get pregnant because they don’t have a male sheep. Initially, they were unsure the mother, fittingly named Momma and the goat called Michael were getting busy when no one was looking.
The baby is covered in spots and different colors, leading the family to name her Butterfly. The Motolas say she is perfectly healthy and enjoys playing with her human family.
