Habib directs for foolproof security to political leaders

Islamabad, May 27 , 2013(APP): Minister for Interior, Malik Mohammad Habib Khan, called on Prime Minister Justice (R) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso at the Prime Minister’s House this afternoon. While talking to the Minister for Interior, the Prime Minister said that the caretaker government has successfully conducted general elections in the country and by maintaining order during elections. Malik Mohammad Habib Khan briefed the Prime Minister on the overall law and order situation in the country. The Prime Minister said that the lat phase of transfer of power shall complete soon and an advice has been sent to the President to summon the session of National Assembly June 1, 2013. The Prime Minister appreciated the role played by law enforcing agencies and other departments who played an effective role in holding of timely elections in the country. APP

While on April 15, 2013 Minister for Interior Malik Mohammad Habib Khan Monday directed the law enforcement agencies to further tighten the security of political leaders, particularly those of Awami National Party as well as election candidates. On directives of Prime Minister Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, the Interior Minister chaired a high-level emergency meeting to review the law and order situation in the country. The meeting was attended by Secretary Interior, Additional Secretary, IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Commandant FC, DG National Crisis Management Cell, IGP Islamabad, DIG Security Islamabad and representatives of Rangers, FC and intelligence agencies. The meeting discussed the prevailing law and order situation of the country particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and attack on ANP leadership. The Interior Minister directed the respective authorities to beef up the security of all political leaders as well as the candidates contesting the elections. The Minister also directed the Rangers, Frontier Constabulary and Police to keep alert and provide fool-proof security to political leadership. He said, on the PM's directives, the security of political leadership including ANP and contesting candidates would be providedtight security. He said directives in this regard have been issued and the government would exploit all out resources to safeguard thepolitical leaders to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections. APP
