An autistic 6-year-old boy found driving his toy battery-operated ATV on the Bronx River Parkway was rescued by motorists.
He’d gotten there by accident after straying from his guardian at a nearby park.
Upon realizing the boy was missing, the family rushed to Mt. Vernon police headquarters.
Once he’d made it onto the busy thoroughfare he was lucky to have been quickly spotted by a group of concerned motorists.
Three of them positioned their autos around the boy and drove at the mini-ATV’s speed, shielding him from drivers who may not notice him in time.
One was able to grab both the boy and the mini-car and pull them out of harm’s way.
The youth was taken to an area hospital for an examination and was determined to be fine.
He’s since been reunited with his family, but an investigation into the incident has been launched.
