The five day festival of Yaoshang (Holi) ends spectacularly with Halangkar. The final day event take place at an open field adjacent to the Shree Shree Bijoy Govinda Temple at Sagolband. The idols from both the Sri Govindajee and the Shri Bijoy Govinda Temples are carried in processions to the ground adjacent to the Bijoy Govinda Temple. Halangkar concludes with a dance by the young women from the locality around the Bijoy Govinda Temple. Dressed in hooded white dresses speckled with pink dye, hiding their faces, they perform the last dance of the festival. After which the idols of the Shri Shri Bijoy Govinda and Shri Govindajee temples are returned in procession back to their respective temples, concluding the years celebration of Yaoshang (Holi).
Yaosang is a festival celebrated in spring season starting from the full moon day of Lamda(March) for six whole days by the Manipuris living in the world. It is the Manipuri version of the famous Hindu festival, Holi. Thabal chongba, a Manipuri folk dance is performed during this festival. Like holi, the Hindus of Manipur play with colours during this festival.
