Rag Virag, a non-profitable registered organization presents a Duet Dance Festival in New Delhi at Triveni auditorium on 22nd February 2014, representing a various selections of Kathak dances.
Punita Sharma is one of the very few performers who can trace the shadow falling between movements and ideas beautifully. Punita Sharma belongs to that new breed of classical Indian dancers who imbibe modernity with tradition. Obtained master's from the reputed Kathak Kendra, new delhi ,Praveen from prayg sangit samiti ,Allahabad and was awarded gold medal. The gifted dancer has completely devoted herself to kathak as her life's passion,for the past on decade. Punita is a disciple of Pt. jai kishan Maharaj of the lucknow gharana and mridul Chandra mishra of the Banaras Gharana .
She has performed at national and international forums based in china &USA etc. and also choreographed ballets on mythological and social issues. She very recently has had re-choreographed the Krishna leela ,a natya ballet production. She ,obtained junior fellowship & Scholarship from ministry of Culture Govt.of india & also got Research fellowship from sangeet natak Akademi New Delhi . A graded artist of kathak from Delhi Doordarshan.
EunJung Kim, a Korean who learned Kathak while staying in India for more than 16 years did BA in Ballet dance from Kei-Myung University in Korea, during that time; she had extensive training and performance experience in Korean traditional dance, modern dance as ballet dance. Her awareness and experience in movement arts had solid fundamental in interpretative dance and world folk dance. This earnest passion in dance magnetized her to a rendezvous with Indian classical dance. She has absorbed a lot from the new world of Kathak in her journey dancer. She joined Kathak Kendra in 1998 and got trained under Smt. Urmila Nagar and Shri Jai Kishan Maharaj, as a professional, she has training in Yoga, Tabla and Vocals. She obtained advanced Diploma and post diploma. She was granted scholarship by ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relation) for six consecutive years as Kathak dancer at Kathak Kendra.
Furthermore, she has learnt Bharatanatyam and Chhahu. She has learnt Abhinaya from Margi Sathi in Kerala. She is trained in Kalaripayattu - a south Indian martial art form, which has defined her agile body language and movements.
