This is manual sewage cleaning with a protective gear, harness, helmet and gloves. This is how a sewage diver who is a government employee works while manually clearing the blocked sewer line. This procedure is strictly done with the help of a machine in the Government Departments and in no condition is a diver sent inside a sewer which is more than 5 feet deep. The diver is sent inside only in rare conditions where the machine is unable to unclog the line and manual labour is needed. Even though the job is done manually, the diver is sent with full protection wearing a protective gear, a helmet, mask, harness and belts and boots. The diver also gets ladder for emergency cases.
