Indicted Texas governor turns himself in

Potential Republican presidential candidate, Texas Governor Rick Perry has turned himself in to the authorities after being indicted last week on two felony charges of abusing power.

The indictment by a grand jury in Travis County which is a Democrat stronghold, was over his veto of funding for a state ethics watchdog that has investigated prominent Texas Republicans.

His supporters turned out to cheer him.

If found guilty Perry faces between five and 99 years in jail. Perry denies any wrongdoing and claims the charges are politically motivated.
